Falmouth 18-Foot Restricted Class

The Falmouth 18-Foot Restricted Class has its origins in the Falmouth Sailing Club, which was formed in the 1890s to encourage small boat sailing, and eventually produced its own class of affordable, exciting racing boats adapted to local conditions.

With an unlimited sail area permitted to help the 18-Foot class travel fast in very light winds, these boats needed a 1 ton lead ballast keel and a draught of up to 5'6" to stay balanced under predictably huge amounts of canvas.

These dramatic pictures show how these boats perform today.
