Bluebottle, the Dragon built for the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh's wedding present, came to PBY for two winters during 2003-5. She stayed in the Black Shed on the Bar, where she had her planking splined and her topsides repainted with a secret mixture of Blakes Paints. Seen here with Julian Davy and Jim Benney on the day she arrived.

The famous gale of 1987 knocked a few boats over on the Bar. Since then, all our boats are stored facing the prevailing wind.

"Jobber", PBY's work boat, is known all over the harbour. Here she is in the final stages of being built in the Winter of 1981, with Jim Benney and Keith Ferris. As well as working around the yard in all weathers, Jobber has performed weddings, been on picnics, helped salvage a whale and has even given Prince Charles a lift.

Julian Davy out in fine morning haze servicing the ROEC and Jobber's moorings with Zeta in March 2002. The very low spring tides make this work possible by hand, though the wrench and bar used to undo and fix shackles get rusty. New pink coral heads can be seen on these low tides, and the dogs like the work because it means they can get at crabs and small fish lying under stones in the mud.
